When your LEGO town has cargo that's too big and heavy for a truck, you need a train. This cargo train comes with an engine and three freight cars so you can get important goods across your LEGO town in a hurry. Includes 17 curved rails, three straight rails, 9-volt Speed Regulator, motor, three mini-figures, decals and other accessories. When assembled, track measures 28" x 37.5". Set contains 544 LEGO pieces.

Lego delisted this set years ago. This set is from the discontinued 9 volt series which used electrified track. As of 2010, Lego has switched to Power Function trains which employ infrared remote control and battery-powered motors. The newer trains use the same gauge track as the earlier 9 volt series, but the new track lacks the metal conductor. Furthermore, the old 9 volt motors and track have become very rare and are increasingly of interest primarily to collectors.
This set is modeled in the style of a small European cargo train. The set has fantastic playability. It includes an engine (similar to a Deutsche Bahn class 290) , a flat car (with three pallets), a box car, a hopper, forklift, and three mini-figures. The set includes one sets of points (switches), sixteen pieces of curved track and two pieces of straight track. Even though this set has been superseded by a newer cargo trains, it is still a fine set.
